Whilst still at school the founders’ sons, Nick and Nigel, begin experimenting with moulding to replicate surface textures and details and come up with the unique composite formula that is still used today.
Inspired by secret doors created from actual leather-bound books, the world’s first faux book panel is reproduced from antique leather original books, and the brand Period Book Simulations is launched to create secret doors and fill libraries and shelves.
Factory and warehousing is moved to larger purpose-built premises in Gloucester.
